Demand

Demand captures anticipated demand for new electricity production to support population and economic growth, as well as indicators that express interest in and commitment to decarbonization and inclusion of nuclear energy as part of the decarbonization process. Use 'Demand' to assess predicted population growth, economic growth, future electricity demand, the scale of a nation's climate goals and action taken to meet those goals, and intention to include nuclear energy as part of a clean energy transition.

Energy Mix

Energy Mix refers to diversity of fuel resources—such as coal, hydro, or nuclear—that power the economic activity of a country. Fuel diversity is critical for energy security, economic stability, and ensuring a steady supply to meet current and projected demand.

Components

Electricity Generation by Source

A country that relies heavily on fossil fuels or intermittent generation sources may be more interested in diversifying its energy supply by developing nuclear capacity.

Uranium Reserves to Production Ratio

The ratio of uranium reserves (reasonably assured resources) to annual production. Countries with large uranium reserves are better positioned to support nuclear energy, however, Australia is a large supplier of Uranium but has no nuclear power.
