Capacity

Capacity reflects historical relationships between nations, as well as trust that highly skilled labor and material supplies will be guaranteed. Use 'Capacity' to assess supply chain reliability and access to labor and material needs of the recipient country’s nuclear infrastructure.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure refers to the fundamental physical and organizational structures, facilities, and systems required for the functioning of a society, economy, or organization. It includes both tangible assets, such as roads, bridges, and utilities, and intangible systems, like communication networks and governance frameworks, that support and sustain daily operations and long-term development.

Components

Information and Communication Technology Index

An UNCTAD developed measure of a country's communications infrastructure, which estimates the accessibility and integration of communication systems by measuring phone use and access to internet. ICT capacity indicates a country's ability to share information about a project, which is critical to social acceptance and transparency.

Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure

Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure refers to a comprehensive system that encompasses the physical, organizational, regulatory, and human resources required to support the safe, secure, and sustainable development, operation, and management of nuclear energy programs. This infrastructure integrates various components to ensure the effective deployment and governance of nuclear technology in power generation, medicine, research, and industry.

Large Infrastructure Projects

Large Infrastructure Projects refer to large-scale, capital-intensive construction initiatives aimed at developing or enhancing critical systems, facilities, or networks essential for societal and economic functioning. These projects typically involve significant financial investments, long timelines, and collaboration among governments, private entities, and other stakeholders.

Transportation Index

An UNCTAD developed measure of the capacity of a country's transportation infrastructure to move goods into and around the country by roads, rail, and air. Even a small nuclear reactor will have significant components that will need to be imported and transported within the host country. Ease of transport can facilitate the feasibility of a project.
